eMPLOYMENT AND VOLUNTEer OPPORTUNITIES
The Crystal Lake Township is an equal opportunity employer. We provide equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, height, weight, familial status, status as a covered veteran, or any other status protected by applicable law. This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leave of absence, compensation, and training. CLT expressly prohibits any form of unlawful employee discrimination or harassment based on the protected classes listed above. Any employee who experiences or is a witness to discrimination or harassment in the workplace should immediately report these issues to the Supervisor Ferris, or any other board or staff member.
- VOLUNTEER & CIVIL INVOLVEMENT-MINDED WORKERS NEEDED:
- The Clerk is always looking for more persons to work on the elections, especially now with 9 more days of early voting added to every election. For the November election, we are in need of election inspectors affiliated with the Republican Party (we have enough Democrats signed up.) Keep in mind there is more than one type of volunteer or worker needed. Please refer to the Elections & Voting webpage on this website or contact Clerk Judy VanMeter.
- Cemetery Committee is in need of several different kinds of help. Are you interested in the historical aspects of our two graveyards? We are looking for someone to work on a historical compendium documenting some of the more interesting gravesites. Are you a photographer? We need to update the file of gravestone photographs. Do you have working experience with spreadsheets, in particular Microsoft's Access? We need to switch from Excel to a spreadsheet that can be more specifically queried. Last but not least, just want to be involved with the cemeteries? Do you have family or friends buried in either North or East Cemetery? We need more volunteers on the Cemetery Committee, and we would like individuals to adopt sections of a cemetery to recommend improvements to the board for their assigned area. Contact Supervisor Amy Ferris.
- Budget & Finance is a subcommittee that has never taken shape before but is needed. Pending approval of the board, this committee would serve as another layer to our government's system of checks-and-balances and could help to steer the township's formation of budgets, financial reporting, review and more. Details as to the scope of the work would need to be defined. If you're interested, contact Supervisor Amy Ferris.
- Board of Review members formerly included Jill Marble but when she was appointed the new CLT treasurer, she was required to step off this board. We need a new Board of Review member that is willing to commit to work and training, remunerated at $23.57 an hour. 13 hours of holding protest sessions in the month of March, a half-day of training once a year or once every two years, and another hour each in the months of July and December, are required.
Here are some other places we could use your talents:
- Airport Authority
- Cemetery Committee
- Environmental Committee**
- Fence Viewer
- Media & Communications Committee
- Personnel Committee**
- Planning Commission*
- Zoning Board of Appeals
*Training in some cases may be required; in some, compensation is offered. **Some committees have not yet been officially formed yet due to lack of volunteers.
ALSO NOTE: If positions on these or other positions/committees/commissions are already filled, we would still like to know of your possible interest, regardless. For those areas of service already filled, we would keep your name on file as a possible appointee should an opening appear. For all others, we have vacancies and encourage you to make your contribution to your local government. Note that your willingness to serve doesn’t necessarily guarantee your appointment, but all applications will be considered. Questions about the amount of knowledge, time and/or energy needed to making a commitment? Contact Amy Ferris, Township Supervisor, at (231) 352-9791 or [email protected].
