Two days a summer are sponsored by the township, with tax payer dollars, offering "free" days in which
to rid your household of junk, oversized and awkward things, all the stuff one wouldn't normally be able to dispose
of through regular weekly trash pick up. This year the event will be serviced by American Waste and the collection site is new: at the Graceland parking lot at the corner of M-22 and Lake Street. A diagram will be posted shortly
that will show the plan for lining up cars, plus township personnel will be there to assist with traffic control.
• WE WILL ACCEPT: Trash/garbage, scrap metal, furniture, mattresses (4 max.), appliances without freon or refrigerant, minimal building waste, dry latex or water-based paint in open cans.
• SMALL LOOSE ITEMS: Must be contained within throw away boxes to save time and energy of when unloading.
• NOT ACCEPTABLE: No tires, TV’s, computers, hazardous bio- or medical waste, paint, thinner, oil, other unknown liquids, batteries, bulbs & other hazardous waste, concrete or yard waste. Only minimal do-it-yourselfer construction waste; no contractors or commercial building dumping.
• NO GUARANTEES: When the trucks are full, service will be discontinued even if it is before 11am. Monitors reserve the right to refuse any material deemed unsuitable for disposal.
• FOR ADDITIONAL SERVICES: Check with our Benzie County recycling department for special recycling dates and locations. Call Jesse Zylstra at 882-0554 or email him at [email protected] or check out the website, benzieco.net.
• HAVE QUESTIONS? Contact Brian Halliday CLT Buildings & Grounds Manager at (248) 410-7332 or via email.
