BUDGET & FINANCes
|
General Finances:
The township's 2025-26 fiscal year (FY) operating budgets represent spending plans and provide blueprints of the township's effort to meeting cornerstones addressed in the Crystal Lake Township Master Plan.
Township Millages:
There are currently three millages specific to Crystal Lake Twp. that appear on your tax bill. They include an operating .50 millage that your election officials and assisting staff use to run the township, helping to pay for everything from office supplies to salaries. There is a Special Assessment for Fire & Rescue services currently set a .65. And lastly, a Road Improvement millage was renewed in the fall of 2024 at 1.00 mill. Prior year L-4029 Tax Rate Request forms have been published on the State website beginning with 2018 through the current year. To access these prior year forms, go to www.michigan.gov/propertytaxestimator / Under Related Documents / PY Form 614/L-4029 Tax Rate Requests. How does a member of the public know where their tax dollars are going? One way is to either attend or watch the post-meeting videos. Another way is to procure copies of the monthly financial reports, of which there are three choices, all of which are available upon request OR available on this website prior to every monthly board meeting; for the prior month, they are a packet of full financial reports, a one page summary of those reports, and a warrant report which lists the bills slated to be paid. Whatever your questions or concerns are, rest assured that our numbers are your numbers. All our records and procedures area matter of public record. Publicly available annual audits are also available on our website and the State of Michigan's (michigan.gov). |
