ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY "GREEN" BURIALS
Did you know you can pour one's ashes directly into the earth at Crystal Lake Township cemeteries? Or that you need not be embalmed or in a steel coffin? Consider a "green burial." Find out more details by exploring the internet or by reading below. “You are made up of 84 minerals, 23 elements and 8 gallons of water divided by 38 billion cells. You were built from nothing by the spare parts of the earth you consumed, according to a set of instructions hidden in a double helix small enough to be carried by a sperm cell. You are made of recycled butterflies, plants, rocks, streams, firewood, wolf skins and shark teeth broken into their smallest parts and rebuilt into the most complex living thing on our planet." We recommend you speak to your funeral service provider or google "biodegradable coffins" (or some similar phrase) for exploring possibilities of not embalming.
CLEANING MONUMENTS: Click to see how. Some prefer the look of the old gravestones, replete with moss, lichen and dirt. Other folks would like their gravestone periodically cleaned and made more readable. We recommend no chemical solutions, as they are totally unnecessary purchases. Just water, a scraper and a stiff brush with some of your self-supplied energy will do the trick. CEMETERY COMMITTEE:
